Morning: Drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake, crossing the Chang La pass. Afternoon: Arrive at Pangong Lake and check-in to your camp/hotel. Enjoy the stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Evening: Relax by the lake and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Morning: Explore more of Pangong Lake or take a short hike around the lake. Afternoon: Drive back to Leh, crossing the Chang La pass again. Evening: Relax at your hotel in Leh.
Morning: Drive to Tso Moriri Lake, another beautiful high-altitude lake. Afternoon: Check-in at your camp/hotel near the lake. Enjoy the stunning scenery and observe local wildlife. Evening: Relax and take in the tranquility of the area.
Morning: Explore the areas around Tso Moriri, including the nearby village and monastery. Afternoon: Drive back to Leh. Evening: Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant or your hotel.
Morning: Check out from your hotel and transfer to Leh Airport for your departure.
Best Time: The ideal time to visit Leh-Ladakh is from June to September when the weather is relatively mild and the roads are accessible. Winter months (October to February) bring heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, making travel difficult.
Altitude: Leh, the capital of Ladakh, is situated at approximately 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. Other areas in Ladakh, such as Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri, are at even higher elevations
By Air: The most convenient way to reach Leh is by flying into Leh Airport (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport) from major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, or Srinagar. By Road: Leh is accessible by road via the Manali-Leh Highway or the Srinagar-Leh Highway, both of which are open during the summer months. Travel by road offers spectacular views but can be challenging due to the high altitude.
Permits: Indian citizens typically do not need a permit to visit Leh-Ladakh, but certain areas near the China border require special permits. Foreign tourists need permits for restricted areas, which can be obtained through travel agencies or local authorities.
Packing List: Essential items include warm clothing (layered for varying temperatures), sturdy trekking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a first-aid kit, and personal medications. Due to the high altitude, it's also wise to carry altitude sickness tablets.
